I am fond of found footage genre although the quality can range from absolute worst to one of the greatest mediums to scare. I found this subreddit very helpful in finding new and obscure films in the FF genre. The things that interest in this medium are

a. Scares

b. Good plot . Mainly why the main character(s) keep shooting even after seeing the paranormal.

c. Interesting way to use the camera instead of just hand held device. That could include fixed cams, infrared , night view.

Now I found the following movies in my recent movies to be very entertaining and frightening ( more so in complete darkness )

  1. The Atticus Institute ( 2015 )
  2. Survive the Hollow Shoals ( 2018 ) : Really scary in darkness . Plot can be pretty average or mundane.
  3. Leaving D.C ( 2012 )
  4. Deadstream ( 2022 ) : Really fun movie making fun of internet streamers and adding horror at the right moments.
  5. 7 Nights of Darkness : Can look very homemade movie in the beginning but that element actually adds to the movie suspense and horror.
  6. Digging up the Marrow : The initial suspense and plot drive to an insanely scary last 20 minutes.
  7. Blackwell Ghost Part 1: There are 6 more sequels but I haven’t watched them yet.
