Nope : My review and thoughts

Of course goes without saying. Spoilers in case you haven’t watched. I highly recommend watching this movie to see great originality in an era of Marvel and sequel movies. Please go support this movie.

1. I liked this movie. However not as much as I wanted to though. To be fair, the first two third of the movie is really great and had me hooked till the third act bogged down a bit.
2. They really outsmarted us in terms of what an UFO could be. I never thought it in the way movie portrayed and after much thinking I really believe the movie version to be much more plausible compared to “little green men”.
3. An UFO that is actually a giant flying organism brings so much familiarity when you see creatures like star fish and the way sharks attack their preys.
4. “Nope” is Jaws in sky is no exaggeration at all. It really felt like a predator hunting its food.
5. The crowd abduction scene coupled with the constant screams in the sky really scared me. The woman moving along the “intestine” meeting a dead horse. Oof !
6. Jean Jacket ( the creature ) shitting or vomiting on the house . All the blood of animals and humans. I think this the part of the scene where the movie peaked.
7. The shooting of the night sky : Wow. I never seen such a crisp and clear night sky cinematography ever before. I was looking for articles on ways they achieved that shots. Looks like they are keeping it a secret for now to allow patents. Fair enough.
8. The smooth moment of the Jean Jackets over and across the mountains and skies. The constant dread was real.
9. Now why they third act fell down for me.
10. Stakes: I get the Oprah shot and I also get that Hollywood is about trying to achieve the impossible. However it became hard for me to root for the lead three characters once it became evident that it was not about saving one’s life.
11. The use of tube men was quite innovative.
12. The alien ( or just terrestrial life no one recognized before ) character design is quite possible when there were discussions of life on Venus or Jupiter’s atmosphere.
13. I have to give it to Jordan . “NOPE” is clearly the best title. When you see random scary shit happening , don’t be the “Lets investigate” horror movie guy. Mostly if it happens to me and many others, the clear answer is “NOPE” — not happening.
